What the certification means

Being listed here is not a matter of having attended something. Every photographer in this register completed the full Dog Photography Masters course with Claudio Piccoli and passed the final examination.

The examination is judged on real work, not on attendance. The registration number is issued only when that work meets the standard, and it is permanent: it belongs to the photographer, it is not a subscription, and it does not expire.

This is why the register is public. A client who is told "I am a Master in Dog Photography" can open this page, find the name, and see the number.

How you get on this list

There is one way in: the full course and the final examination. The number is issued on the work handed in, so nobody is on this list because they paid for a seat.

You can scroll the 173 names below as long as you like, they will never tell you what got them through.

At the examination the work is judged on eight points, always the same ones, and those eight points are not public.

The sixth is about how the space inside the photograph is built: the planes, the sides, the character of the out-of-focus areas. It is what decides whether a photograph is worth anything, and it has nothing to do with the lens in your bag. Almost nobody teaches it, because almost nobody knows it.

The seventh explains why the examination also asks for the unedited frame, straight out of the camera. It is where photographers counting on editing to rescue a picture come undone.

I will send you all eight. Twelve pages, with no course hidden inside.

The Official Register

Every photographer listed here has completed the Dog Photography Masters path with Claudio Piccoli and holds a registration number in the official register. The number is permanent and identifies each master uniquely.

The register is public for one reason. A certification nobody can check is worth nothing, to the photographer who earned it or to the client reading about it. Here anyone can look up a name, match it to a number, and see where that photographer works.

173 certified masters across 24 countries. Registration numbers are permanent and are never reassigned. To report an error or request an update, write to info@claudiopiccoli.com.

You are on this list. Put it on your site.

A client weighing you up has no way of knowing whether "Master in Dog Photography" means anything.

Put the link to this register next to your title and they stop having to take your word for it.
